SOUTHWEST VIDEO DOORS SHUT PERMANTENTLY BY BALTIMORE COUNTY

It finally happened JRL fans, after nasty statements, vandalism and hate mail, Baltimore County code enforcement officers have officially closed Southwest Video until further notice.If you'll remember I did an article on this story back on March 22, 2010 regarding he fight that Southwest Video was having with the Baltimore City Code Enforcement Agency.

Accompanied by Baltimore County Police, County Code Enforcement Inspector Chip Raynor and Mike Mohler, deputy director of the county’s Department of Permits and Development Management, notified employees at Southwest Video around 10 a.m. last Thursday March 25, 2010, that the store was closed until further notice.
“I’m ecstatic,” said Mike McAuliffe, president of the Halethorpe Improvement Association. “It really is a scar on the neighborhood.” The adult video store was forced to close for a violation of the 1996 Use and Occupancy Permit for the building at 5648 Southwestern Blvd.

“The use permitted was a day-care center with 12 kids, three employees and six parking spaces,” Mohler said. “They’re in violation of that.”
To get Southwest Video reopened, the owners must apply for a new Use and Occupancy Permit. Mohler said that Southwest Video is welcome to apply for such a permit and that the store would be treated like any other business.
He would not say how long the process could take. Judging how Southwest Video was treated during this ordeal, I doubt that they would rush to grant Southwest a permit to open.Obtaining the permit would require inspections from several county agencies and departments, followed by the approval of Baltimore County’s building engineer, Donald Brand.
