Keith Witchka: Known for lavish, big-budget movies, and content that other directors dream of creating, Michael Lucas and his films have set records across the spectrum.




His last No.1 hit was with Paris Playboys [2009] hitting No.1 on the JRL Weekly Top 100 last month and is still holding firm at No. 57 after 2 months in release. His 2007 mega hit La Dolce Vita [2007] not only held the No.1 spot on the JRL Weekly Top 100 Gay rentals and sales chart for a record 7 weeks, but it also received a record 14 GayVN awards for La Dolce Vita in 2007.

Both of these honors have yet to be broken by anyone.

In May 2009, Lucas Entertainment announced that it was filming on location the first gay porn movie with only Israeli models, billing it as an effort to promote Israeli culture. The company subsequently launched its Men of Israel micro site introducing the actors and film concept. Lucas has called the film his most important, and journalists from the Atlantic.

Out Magazine and Yediot Aharonot noted it as a landmark film as the first pornographic movie shot on location with an all-Israeli cast while Tablet Magazine and, the Los Angeles Times remarked on it being the first to feature an all-Jewish cast.

Now Michael Lucas has done it again. This time he has returned to the big screen with Inside Israel [2009]. This film is sure to top the JRL Weekly Top 100 in America and I'm sure that it is going to be the No.1 gay xxx film of 2009 all over the EU.

Keith Witchka: Michael welcome back to JRL.

Michael Lucas: Thank you Keith, always nice to talk with you.

Keith Witchka: You are the talk of the gay blogs world wide with your latest masterpiece entitled Inside Israel. After the success of Men of Israel [2009, what possessed you to go one step further with Inside Israel?

Michael Lucas: With Men of Israel [2009] we introduced how incredibly sexy the guys are in this nation. After the great response to the film we wanted to bring in a cast of international men to explore Israel for themselves.

We knew coming back here that we had to produce something just as hot and bring it to another level. We put in an enormous effort to capture amazing guys and locations and I think you’ll be pleased with the outcome.

Keith Witchka: Did you have any problems with the conservatives while shooting in Israel?

Michael Lucas: The freedoms and progress of Israel are amazing and have made this production possible. Yes, there are conservatives in Israel, as there are in every country, but we didn't’t run into any of them and we filmed all over the country. Just like in America they exist but we don’t run into them.

Keith Witchka: The reason I was asking this is because the religious right in so many countries in the middle east are very dangerous for gays and lesbians. I wanted to know if they had given you or your crew and cast any problems as far as protests or hate messages of any kind while shooting gay porn in Tel Aviv?

Michael Lucas: First off there is a very clear distinct difference and separation when you talk about the Middle East and Israel. Israel is a westernized democratic nation where gay people are granted more rights than they are in the United States. In the surrounding Muslim countries of the Middle East being gay is a crime punishable by death.

You simply can’t include Israel as part of the intolerant and dangerous Middle Eastern countries. In Israel it is very different, they very accepting and they embraced our journey in their country. The only problems we had were the gay guys in Tel Aviv trying to get into our hotel to have fun! And many of the cast members did have some fun outside of the set!

Keith Witchka: The cast line up in Inside Israel [2009] is just phenomenal.Jonathan Agassi, Baptiste Bremont, Carlos Caballero, Sasha Dov, Jordan Fox, Bruno Jones, Michael Lucas, Hugo Martin, Martin Passoli, Jay Roberts, Max Schutler and Naor Tal. Was it difficult to find these hunks and..how did you convince them to do hardcore gay porn?

Michael Lucas: We started a diligent international search for guys many months before we were to begin filming. They had to be good looking and it was also very important that they had great attitudes because we were all going to be living together for a month!

Some of the men had worked for us before and others were complete newcomers to porn, like our new Hungarian exclusive Martin Passoli.


Keith Witchka: How were the egos on the set? Any drama to speak of?

Michael Lucas: That is why we had several stages of casting to get a feel for the men’s personalities and made sure there would be no dramatics on or off the set. The men of Inside Israel were a fantastic cast, funny, sexy and some of the nicest guys you would ever meet.

Keith Witchka: How was it being at the caves where the stones that built Jerusalem were taken from?

Michael Lucas: We were completely speechless once we went below ground and entered the caverns. It was surreal and really astounding to be standing in these massive 4,000 year-old structures with massively high ceilings, carved Hebrew writings on the walls, and chiseled out candle crevasses to light the ancient workplace. It was one of my favorite locations I have ever shot in or even seen for that matter.

Keith Witchka: What was the most difficult scene to shoot in Inside Israel [2009]?

Michael Lucas: The Jordan River scene for sure! We ended up filming one full scene and two oral scenes there. They were incredibly intense but we didn't’t realize that the river also doubles as a hot spot for rafting.

Every twenty minutes there would be five or six boats full of screaming family adventurers cascading through the rapids and into our set of hot man sex! But our boys remained hard, rough and ready and we got it done. I think the families may have gotten an eye-full at moments, but our bottoms didn't’t shy away and they got their fill too.

Keith Witchka: How many days did it take to complete Inside Israel [2009]?

Michael Lucas: Including pre-production it was about two and a half months total, but the filming itself took place over a three week period. While we were in Israel we also filmed PISS GODS! which will be released on December 9th and also we shot a new Israeli Auditions movie that will come out early next year.

Keith Witchka: From the superb cast that you have assembled for Inside Israel. Who do you see as being the new heartthrob in the U.S.A. from Inside Israel?

Michael Lucas: Our exclusive Jonathan Agassi always excites us and the audience with his performance.

He is always very hot, passionate and real in his scenes.

Naor Tal also has a large fan following who will be pleased to see him really take it rough in this film. Bruno Jones and Martin Passoli I think also stand out in this movie showing off their raw sexuality.

Keith Witchka: Will we see slow motion cum shots in this one Michael?

Michael Lucas: we have some HUGE cum shots in this movie. But slow motion orgasms are a little too sci-fi/Matrix for me. I like it real.

Keith Witchka: What about the passion between the characters. Do we see it in this film? The reason I ask is because I've been reviewing several films lately and the chemistry is just so obviously not there in the scene that one has to wonder why did they pair them together for that movie? So, I have to ask, any hot passionate kissing and caressing going on in Inside Israel [2009]?

Michael Lucas: There genuinely was a connection with the cast and their partners in this movie. Maybe because we were all living together but the guys made some real connections here. At dinner they would be all over each other and at night they would sleep together even though everyone had their own beds. Even after heading back to their home countries I think all of the guys are still in touch.

Keith Witchka: Budget wise, did you stay within budget or did you go over it on this one?

Michael Lucas: What we set out to achieve was not a cheap challenge. There were great expenses with flying all of the cast to Israel, housing them, feeding them, paying locations scouts, assistants, travel expenses to film all over the country…there were countless elements that all had to be paid for. We had meticulous meetings on the budget and we stayed on course. We always stay within out budget, that’s the only way that we are able to produce two new movies each month.

Keith Witchka: Michael you are known to find studs of life with massive cocks. Who will be the one that will make jaws across the country drop when they see Inside Israel?

Michael Lucas: Hmm the biggest and meatiest cock of the movie…that would have to be Jordan Fox. His thick uncut dick gave it to Hugo Martin hard on the shores of the Mediterranean.

Michael Lucas: We had a lot to share with this movie and we wanted to take you guys on the journey with us!
