Csaba: I would also like to say hello to the readers of JRL, I am a great fan of the JRL website!
William: Thank you Csaba....let's get right in to it! ...Over120 gay xxx films...thousands of reorders..VOD...how many do you have in the can that haven't been released yet or even packaged?
Csaba: That's a good question.... I have filmed over 120 movies that have been produced over the past 10 years for 6 different studios. I've been releasing my films through my own distribution center for 2 years, so what I can say is, that I have about 8 titles yet to be released.
William: You've signed an exclusive deal with Pacific Sun Entertainment recently. Out of all of the major players including Pacific Sun, how did you come to the decision to go with PSE? Give us the juicy perks!
Csaba: I started my career as a Gay Adult Model Agent and I used to intermediate models for Matt Sterling. Then I shot movies for Falcon Studios for 3 years and after that I was contacted by Pacific Sun Entertainment to whom I used to produce movies for 5 years ago.
I am a Scorpio regarding my sign of Zodiac, so I have a characteristic for diversity. I am open for new things, therefore I decided not to stop and try other studios. All Worlds Video was the next one, then IMD and Private.
After my contracts were completed, I made a decision of taking the reigns to distribute my own films.
William: After self-distributing your own titles, what made you decide to sign a distribution deal with Pacific Sun?
Csaba: I was contacted Pacific Sun Entertainment 2 months ago with the idea that they would like to be the American distributor of my movies. Since 80% of viewers worldwide think of Pacific Sun and Csaba Borbély as one thing belonging together, it only made since. Therefore I gave an immediate positive answer after distributing my own product and having all control for the past almost 3 years.

I truly can see their company growing and I believe that they can promote and distribute my films better than anyone else. I just simply wanted to find a reliable distributor in America. I hope we can present fascinating movies with Pacific Sun Productions in conjuction with my own labels as well!
William: One thing I want to know is, what do you look for in your performers? Is it just cock or is it acting skills..physique...?
Csaba: Physique is the most important by all means, cock is just the second aspect, but if it is culminated by very good performance skills, that is what I call real catharsis. I like models who can act, not pretend to act but actually act. Since 90% of my movies are based on a screenplay, I must have perfection every time out. At least as much of perfection that I can get.
William: What kind of budgets do you work with Csaba? because...you have a ton of performers for each of your films.

Csaba: It is always a problem for me, I handle money badly. Since I do not spare any costs when it's time to shoot, I find myself only concentrating on the production itself. The concept...the stage, lighting...etc..
William: Would you call yourself the Speilberg of Gay Adult Films?
Csaba: I always invest a ton of money on my films. If you take the Turkish, Greek and Egyptian trilogies, the parts of Passion of War or, the series of Temptation into account, you can see they were not shot in a studio and the costumes speak for themselves.
William: Do you think that it's cost effective to spend a lot of money (i.,e $ 80,000 - $ 100,000 +) on gay xxx films in today's economy?
Csaba: In the past it was worth it. But now it isn’t....at least in Europe it's not. Since the rate of USD decreased to almost its half, which can really be felt on the budget of any production be it mainstream or adult, these costs really do hurt. With such an exchange rate I cannot even dream of a movie with such a huge budget; just to mention as an example; the costumes of “Master of the Sword” movie cost more than USD $12,000! And I am not speaking about swords, metal helmets, shields, etc! We're not even talking about packaging and advertising and marketing of the film.
William: Consumers want the ultimate fantasy in their gay xxx porn but for the cheapest price. And don' t get me wrong..because statistics still show that true porn collectors know the difference in quality between a $ 39.95 title versus a $ 49.95 - $ 59.95 title.....My question is...How do you feel about today's gay xxx films currently in the marketplace today versus the product that was released back in the era of 1999 - 2002?

Csaba: The difference is enormous between the market of that time and nowadays’. In the past fashion meant masculine, tall men with big cock, but AIDS was not widespread so much yet or should I say, it wasn't discussed in a mainstream fashion at the time. Now however, the market has thinned down and the desired age group is 19 to 21. They have to be thin and have a baby-face, which is not my style, but you must go along with times and marketplace to stay competitve. It’s in the bag!
William: How do you feel about VOD and, do you think that it will hurt land based retail outlets?
Csaba: I think VOD has already outplaced land based retail outlets; DVD sales are falling, since movies can be watched on illegal web sites to which generates huge losses for the distributor, studio, producer and director.
William: Some people are saying that VOD is very profitable for them while others are saying that it isn't generating any thing worth of consequence. What do you attribute to the "some have it" and "some don't" syndrome in VOD?
Csaba: This is something I cannot assure nor deny, since my movies can also be downloaded from more than 10 different VOD web sites. In some cases revenues are very good, whereas in the case of others it is negligible.
William: With your knowledge of this business Csaba...can you tell us how you first got into the Gay Adult Film Industry? I'm sure there are a lot of fans reading this who would like to know how you broke your cherry in this business.
Csaba: It was not hard, since I grew up in a theatre from the age of 16, I used to work as a dancer till the age of 30. I performed as an actor in a lot of movies, this way I got close to the film industry. After I had stopped dancing, I started looking for models for commercials and then I was found by an American producer who got me to get models for his gay movies. This was the start of my gay porn career; a lot of thanks to him!
William: Csaba the Fall Season for 2008 is here on JRL and, you've got two steamy gay xxx films coming out this fall; Hung Vacation [2008] and Longhorn Roundup [2008]. What can your fans expect in these two sizzlers?
Csaba: I do not want to take the point out of the joke in advance.
Hung Vacation is a very simple nice story about a garden party with famous international models!
Briefly about it: everybody has sex in the movie with everyone, because a famous porn star is built in the party, but no one knows who he is.
The rest is for the imagination of the viewers…
William: Who are the main characters in Hung Vacation [2008]?
Csaba: The main characters are Dirk Jager, Marco Sanchez, Manuel Martinez, Mad Stefano, Allan Parkers and a host of others to many to mention.
William: Tell us about Longhorn Roundup [2008]?
Csaba: As far as Longhorn Roundup [2008] project is concerned, this is my most favorite western film which by the way is a 2-Disc Set....Consumers can expect a lot of surprises. There is no opportunity for disappointment, since they can have an adventure full of excitement with over 3 hours of orgasms.
William: You're stars in Longhorn Roundup [2008]?
Csaba: DerekLyon,Martin Grey,Cort Berringer,Devon Williams and again, a host of talent that will keep you locked to your screen.
William: Walk us through the shoot on Hung Vacation [2008]. Were the models difficult or, were they great to work with. You know some of the horror stories On-Set!
Csaba: We had some troubles with those international models who spoke no language just their mother tongue, e.g. Slovakian.
It made it a bit more difficult to communicate, because sometimes we could only use body language to express what we wanted, which was in some cases ambiguous.
The other problem was the weather, because every time we started shooting, it started to rain, but fortunately in the movie it could be very well solved!
William: How do you feel about watersports and barebacking in gay xxx films as compared to the pre-condom era of the early 80's and 70's?
Csaba: I am against both, I have never done such things and I am not planning to do it. In our nowadays’ life you cannot be sure of the other person. Because there are several diseases that cannot even be properly tested for yet nor recognised; I would not risk the health of the models that I work with. Some of the actors are careless and would do anything for money, but when trouble comes, it's too late to correct the mistake. The biggest problem is that there are some producers who do not care about such things.
William: The European Union does better with watersports than the U.S. What do you attribute this to?
Csaba: As I mentioned, it is not my cup of tea, I am not interested in it, I am not affected by films with this topic, therefore I cannot tell anything about it, but I regret to state their emerging market is growing.
William: Are you planning on doing any In-Store Appearances with your models for Hung Vacation [2008] and Longhorn Roundup [2008] this Fall?
Csaba: Yes, if everything goes all right and nothing wrong occurs, we will be present in the Venus Show in October. The premier of Longhorn Roundup [2008] is planned to that time. As I mentioned it is my most favorite western movie. The models will sign what consumers want at the stand, in addition to dancing.
William: I have to ask Csaba, when are we going to see the sequel to your sensational hit Temptation on Force 1: Internal Affairs [2003]? After all Csaba you had Gastone Pierce, Norberto Rollins, Renato Bellagio, Jack Laurel, Lucio Maverick, Ricardo Neston, Sergio Foster and Fred Goldsmith in orgasmi thriller.

Csaba: I really wanted to continue this series and to tell you the truth, it's also among my personal favorites. But as my agreement with the releasing company was terminated, it was stopped. I am also very sorry for that, because I could continue the series with a lot of new and skilful, exclusive models. If there is need and I find a supporter, I’ll do it.
William: How do you feel about stepping into the arenas of shooting Asians and Blacks?
Csaba: I do believe in it, since Hungarian men are known worldwide, muscular, handsome, hard-working, they perform very well under every circumstance. And by the way this i not only in Europe!
William: Do you think that the markets for the minority genres have seen a huge increase over the past couple of years?
Csaba: People were not so open in the past, information flow was not so fast. Since the emerge of Internet, the world is in your hands. Several years ago you could not access so much information. Now people are more open, more luminous, can accept homosexuality and are not against hard perversion. Moreover, public sex is a great fashion and I could continue my career in this business for a long time to come.
