LAWTON, OK. – Lawton Police’s Robbery and Homicide division are investigating an unusual burglary that took place at Christie’s Toy Box Adult Toy store over the Memorial Day weekend.
Police say they were called to the Christie’s Adult Toy Store after employees found ceiling tiles missing and a couple of high-dollar blowup dolls swiped from their shelves.
After reviewing the surveillance video, investigators found the burglar’s entrance into the building was just as unusual as the items he ran off with. It looks like the burglar wanted in, and badly. Christie’s Toy Box which is located at 2722 NW Sheridan Rd, sits in a plaza with a vacant store on each side.
One of those vacant stores had several of their windows broken out nearly a month ago according to police. That is where the burglar got in, then climbed into the ceiling and crawled into the adjoining building, removed some ceiling tiles and started loading up on some unusual loot.
Christie’s Adult Toy store is known for their selection of top-of-the-line adult pleasure products which are usually on the high-end price range. “The Blow Up dolls that were stolen run in upwards of three hundred dollars,” said one employee of Christie’s Toy Box.
The employee, who did not want to be identified, stated that is why it is not uncommon for them to be stolen.
“Everything from your in-the-bag to grab it and run out the door,” said the employee. But Lawton Police Detective, Ken Parsons, stated that the way the stolen merchandise left this store was unusual. He said it was easy to see the burglar got in through the ceiling because of what employees found. “Ceiling tiles on the floor insulation on the floor,” said Parsons. The burglar’s target…”She said they were two….dolls,” said Parsons.
“It’s a lot of effort to go through for a blow up doll,” said Parsons. Detective Parsons says police are eager to find out who is responsible for this crime. “I think it’ll be interesting to find out what his explanation is,” said Parsons.
According to Christie’s employees, after reviewing the surveillance video, their security alarm never sounded since the burglar never touched the ground. They say he reached in from the ceiling and pulled out whatever he could get his hands on. Police describe the burglar as determined but, they say there was plenty of evidence left behind that should help them make an arrest.
If anyone has information regarding this case they are incouraged to contact Detective Parsons at (580) 581-3500.
