Norton Adult Video store that specialized in merchandise from DVD’s to novelties and especially preview booths for the discrete customer, went up in flames last Wednesday afternoon April 21, 2010.

Fire engulfed the Norton Adult Video store located at 3160 Barber Rd, Norton, OH. Janie Hines, employee of Norton Adult Video, stated that there were five customers inside the store at the time fire was discovered roughly around 2:00 p.m.

‘‘I smelled, like, plastic burning,’’ Hines told reporters. Hines also stated that when she was smelling plastic burning, one of the five customers screamed out that the corner of the building was on fire.

Fire Chief Mike Schultz told JRL that the building is too unstable to begin the investigation into a cause of the blaze.

‘‘It looks like a total loss,’’ stated Fire Chief Schultz. Schultz went further to say that the initial fire units arrived on scene within four minutes of the call. Firefighters from Copley Township and Barberton assisted in extinguishing the massive blaze which could be seen for miles.

Norton Video Current estimates show that the company has an annual revenue of $500,000 to $1 million and employs a staff of 5 to 9.

That is a blow to the Norton city employment bottom line. It will be sometime before owner Rondee is able to collect on the insurance to rebuild his establishment.

Distributors concerned over inventory at Norton Adult Video should attempt to reach Norton Adult Video owner Rondee Kamins.

Norton Adult Video was well known for selling and renting adult videos, magazines and novelties.

Plus one of their most popular items were their preview booths.
